Backpack Bash in a Parking Lot

When the Lord finally opened the door to the apartment complex down the street, we couldn't have been more thankful, and we knew that the Lord was going to call us to intentionally do something for them. I love a good parking lot. And it could have something to do with living in New York and the lack of parking lots. When I see parking lots and I see places with spaces I can't help but wonder how we can use it. How can we pull people together that love Jesus to invite people together who don't know him to make him known.

What started out as wanting to host a BBQ in the parking lot of the small complex, turned into purchasing backpacks for the kids and having fun lawn games, but here is something really cool -- I reached out to Kona Ice and they agreed to come out and park in the lot and donate the snow cones for the kids.

We had 12 people serve with us for this event.

• City Church Albany deployed their people to purchase backpacks that the kids specifically requested.

• There was a significant donation for the food (as always)

• We had someone offer to supply the pinata and candy.

• The star of the show was Kona Ice donating their time and product.

• Chick fila donated lemonade and sweet tea.
  

The kids had such a special time, and I am always up for a luau!
