Summer isn't just about us

When I read about the ministry of Jesus, I see him intentionally going places where people need to be healed and set free. I want to go places where people need to be healed and set free. It is good for a church to be mobile. So, we are going to be mobile. A church that has feet is my favorite church.
TDM alongside the local church (because we can't do anything without the local church) is bringing Kid Week to one of the largest homeless shelters in the Albany area. Most of these families don't know Jesus, and many of them don't have the resources to do anything with their kids for the summer. We want to change that.
This will be the longest and most costly outreach we've done and as always, we need help. We want to have a water day, and Kona Ice, rock climbing, and most importantly tons and tons of moments to share Jesus.
Sometimes I can take my summers for granted. I can quickly move into this place that it's a vacation from life, but it should never be a vacation from sharing and showing the gospel. There are people that aren't having a poolside summer. There are families that can't take their children to the beach, buy them a snow cone, or even smile and play. There are moms that are dealing with depression and coming out of addictions and abuse and don't know how to love their children well, even though they want too. There are kids sitting in classrooms right now listening to their friends share about all the plans they get to do over the summer. Your normal summer isn't normal to families that don't have a home.
We need help. We give our best to the kids in the local church -- which we should -- please hear me we should. But what if we also gave our best and mobilized to a group of kids whose parents don't think they are invited into the church, don't have the transportation or time -- what if we gave our best and brought the church and the riches of the kingdom to the broken places in our cities? That sounds like the start of revival.
There's a lot of things we are asking for during this event. One of the biggest costs is t-shirts, and the water day. Would you please prayerfully consider coming alongside us to make this happen? Here's our link that outlines everything we would like along with serve positions (we need people to serve + your kids can come)
If you have it on your heart to donate, please email us. We aren't set-up as a non-profit yet (one day), but you can give directly to our home church - City Church Albany.
